This weekend marks the beginning of the World Series of Poker Ladies No-Limit Hold'em event on Sunday. However, some women got a little warm-up and refresher by winning their seats through the WSOP Academy Ladies Only camp.
The first day of the camp took place Friday, bringing the females out bright and early for an 8 a.m. registration and breakfast, followed by a full day of poker seminars. To cap off the day, they had a chance to put what they learned into practical use.
After a break for dinner, nearly 100 seminar attendees gathered in the poker room at Caesars Palace to try to win a seat in the 2007 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em event.
With 10 seats up for grabs at $1,000 each, this wasn't going to be the usual friendly poker game. These women sat down for some serious play.
It took about six hours before the last of the players trying to make it into the prize pool finally let go of the death grip on their last chips.
Fortunately the "bubble girl" got to keep a souvenir dealer button, and many other players got consolation prizes as well.
The ladies who scored the coveted seat in the tournament, however, were:

These women will get a second chance to put their new poker knowledge to the test on Sunday when the WSOP Ladies Event begins.
