Mimi Tran Biography

Mimi Tran, born in Vietnam and now residing in Torrance, CA, started playing poker in 1989. Mimi got her start in poker through her boyfriend at the time, Barry Greenstein. In exchange for Barry showing her the ropes in poker, Mimi taught Barry how to speak Vietnamese. Mimi has become well-known for her play in high-stakes cash games, and until the late 90s participated solely in the side action. Encouraged by Barry, Mimi began playing in tournaments - a move that proved to be a positive one, as she has earned almost $1 Million in tournament play alone since 1998.
